Shi’a Echoes
This documentary sets out to capture the shades of political movements and opinions held today by Lebanese Shiites through the profiles of three young people and the intervention of an important Shiite cleric Sayyed Hani Fahs.
Marwan Hamdan is an aspiring filmmaker with “Leftist” beliefs who is facing difficulties in living in a society becoming more and more religious and closed.
Fouad Khraiss is a student who supports the “Amal” Movement founded by Imam Moussa Sadr. |
Isra’a Aoudeh is a fervent follower of Hizbullah.
The figure of the father, cinema v/s politics, the relation to “Dahieh”-Beirut southern suburb which is a Shiite stronghold- the south and liberation- the absence of a unifying state are all themes exposed in this journey where secularism and sectarianism face each other and where the echoes put question marks on Lebanon itself.

Sunni Echoes
This documentary sets out to capture the shades of political movements and opinions held today by Lebanese Sunnis through the profiles of four young people and a special intervention of MP Saad Hariri.
Inas Tamim is member of the Future Movement and she lives in Tareek Jadidah-Beirut.
Bassem Hmouda is member of the Islamic Jamaa and he lives in Tripoli (North of Lebanon).
|
Jamal Ghourabi is member of the Nasseri Popular Organization and he lives in Saida (South of Lebanon).
Facing them is Khaled Soubeih, a musician who is confronting politics with his Arab and Lebanese music.
Five chapters reflect the echoes: “searching for the father”, “the father and the son”, “politics and religion”, “sectarianism and beyond” and “the final interrogatory”.
Once again secularism and sectarianism face each other and the echoes put question marks on Lebanon itself.

In Lebanon, this phenomenon is depleting the government’s scarce financial resources, obstructing economic growth, discouraging new talent and widening the gap between the rich and the poor. |

Today two trends have appeared: those in favor of retaining it, and those demanding its abolishment. |
The film analyzes "The Death Penalty in the Arab World" through a series of distinctive angles: social, religious, legal, psychological, tribal…
